Carolyn is about as vivacious as they come, and her positive energy is infectious! She is a writer and a teacher of writing, and she inspires women to live their best lives in many ways! I loved capturing her energy in our personal branding portrait session to create some new images for her new re-branded website!
Stacy and I know each other through the sailing community, and I was very excited that she wanted to hire me for a portrait session. I am getting to know this wonderful woman, and as I do, I am inspired by her ways. She has a clear, kind and thoughtful communication style that sets me at ease, and her authenticity shines thorough and through! I love when my friends become clients and my clients become friends! I am so grateful for these connections!
Krystyna is a lifelong entrepreneur and a deeply creative soul. She has had many different adventures in her career, and currently is the steward of a wonderful ranch in Texas. It turns out she and I are kindred spirits, which, of course, our friend Madeline knew when she introduced us and suggested we work together. We are both nature girls, adventurers and sailors, with a drive to do everything outside the box! I didn’t have nearly enough time to talk with her, but i am sure that our paths will cross again. She is a true inspiration!
Taylor is a kids yoga teacher. She is passionate about making yoga and mindfulness practice accessible to kids. She connects organizations with yoga teachers so that their kids can have this opportunity. Her organization, Yogees holds this mission at its core. She is a hoot to spend time with and has a laugh that reverberates in my heart still! I was so happy to meet her and get to capture some portraits for her on my recent trip to Dallas.
I loved working with Erin, because she was so willing to show up and be seen. No matter where we adventured or what I asked her to do, she was gung ho, and so open. Her sparkly eyes and infectious smile kept me feeling so inspired and joyful. Working with Erin was a true pleasure! I was so honored that she asked me to capture some portraits for her at this powerful time of her life!
Jessica Headey-Gandolfi is a writer. She is currently publishing a children’s book, and has a fantastic blog. I met Jessica, because she and my dear friend Teresa (who I have also had the pleasure of photographing), invited me to be a guest on their podcast, Hiking in Heals. I instantly felt drawn to her bright and charismatic personality, and was thrilled that she hired me to do a personal branding portrait session. We had the most beautiful experience laughing and traipsing around Marina Del Rey for our session! One of the things I love the most about working with women like Jessica, is the life-long friendships that are formed. I ams o grateful!
All of these ladies are powerhouses in their fields! I captured these portraits in a group session which left us all enriched and happy and with a belly ache from laughing!!
I had the true honor of spending my morning taking portraits of this radiant being! I have known Sami Mehra for years as she is one of my favorite yoga teachers of all time. She is a true peaceful warrior. She has brought me so much peace, solace and growth over those years on my "prayer mat" (as she calls our yoga mats). I am so honored that she wanted me to \ capture some portraits of her luminous self!
I love commemorating milestones with portraits. Jan asked me to document her 40th birthday party, as well as capture some portraits of her. This woman is entering her 40's with grace and strength! I only just met her, but I can feel her compassion and warmth so strongly every time we are around each other. She is a bright light in this world for sure!
As I was perusing Instagram one day, a comment popped up on a photo I posted : “Margie, would you ever be interested in coming to Nicaragua to do a photo shoot for me”? Hmmmmm, let me think about that for a while (not really!!)…… I am not sure my fingers have ever flown so quickly across my keyboard as I answered a hearty and resounding YES! It was my dream job: a personal branding session, with a creative entrepreneur…AND it was in Central America, where I have not been in many years, but have always loved deeply.
Courtney Pinkerton and I met online a few years ago when we were both enrolled in Marie Forleo’s B School. Until I pulled up to her Nicaragua home on a rainy night, we had never actually met in person. Courtney is a Martha Beck certified life coach, and the founder of Bird in Hand Coaching. She is also the author of the soon to be published book, The Flourish Formula, dedicated to over achievers who need help slowing down while still staying productive. As a complement to all of that, she leads luscious and supportive retreats for women, the next one being in Nicaragua in October.
Courtney needed some new images for her book, social media, as well as for her website. She wanted to capture the essence of her life as an entrepreneur living abroad. Of course this entire scenario was right up my alley, not to mention that the color pallet of Granada, and her peaceful life with her family there was a perfect backdrop for us to achieve this. I was invited into her luscious world, and got to have a glimpse into her beautiful and rich life as we photographed in all of the places that she frequents in her daily life. My goal was to capture her in her natural environment to provide her clients and potential readers with a sense of her life and energy. We had many adventures along the way, including my first experience of shooting from a kayak on a volcanic lake!
As always I feel so honored to be invited into a client's life and heart. I will always treasure this trip and the opportunity to connect with and co-create with such a wonderful woman and her beautiful family!
I had the best time meeting Kara and collaborating to get some portraits for her new project! She was a dream to work with, and we had a wonderful flow together as we wandered around the streets of Venice chasing the sunset light. Kara is the founder of the Feminine Intelligence, and as such connects with and empowers women to be seen and heard in the world. I am so grateful for our connection, and look forward to collaborating in the future!!
Orly Avineri has been an inspiration and teacher of mine for quite some time now. She has created two stunning books on her artist journals, and also leads beautiful workshops on art journaling and the creative practice around the U.S. I had the opportunity to take one of her amazing classes a few years ago, and I was totally transformed by the experience!
I was so thrilled to be able to capture some portraits of Orly and her beautiful daughter, Maya the other day in Venice. I was totally honored to be in the presence of such a strong mother-daughter connection. Their love was palpable. I am so grateful to know them!
Erin has the BEST laugh you will ever hear, and a knack for bringing our the laughter and fun in any conversation. She is kind, sincere and extremely talented! I loved getting to spend some time with her during our session in Venice.
This is the second session I have done with Sheyla and her son. I always have the most wonderful time with them. Chasing a four year old and his elusive focus on my lens is always a fun challenge for me! I hope to do many more shoots with these guys in the future. Hopefully we can get dad to come along next time ;-)
One of the greatest joys for me as a photographer is capturing the beauty and soulful essence of women who are in their element and in their power. My annual ‘goddess shoot’ with Harmony Scott Jewelry Design is one of the times where I am guaranteed to experience this blessing in spades! The ladies at HSJD always rustle up some of the most gorgeous and accomplished women of the roaring fork valley to model for our shoots. We started this annual shoot a while back whenever I came home to Colorado for my summer trip. It has become a wonderful tradition that I look very forward to!
This year Harmony herself was abroad on business, so her trusty team spearheaded the shoot. Crystal and Claire did an amazing job setting it all up, despite the fact that we had to change locations twice, and ended up shooting amidst thunder, lightening and rain. There were some challenges for me as a photographer (mainly the super low light that resulted from dark thunder clouds), but between my hearty gear, the positive attitude of our models, and the efficiency of Claire and Crystal as stylists, it was a huge success!!!
I am very grateful to have had this time with all of these beautiful women in a place that is my heart’s home.
I had the amazing fortune of meeting Gemma Marin recently. She instantly captivated me on so many levels. Her beauty, as you can see is undeniable, and the humility with which she balances that gift is awe-inspiring! She is an actor living in Los Angeles, but is originally from Spain. She is incredibly connected and sincere, and has a light about her that no one could forget. Suffice it to say, she has it ALL going on. Her latest gig was a wonderful commercial for Nespresso featuring Danny DeVito and George Clooney. Yes, she got to dance cheek to cheek with George and Danny! I think they should both count themselves lucky. I certainly count myself lucky to have met and connected with this beautiful soul! I look forward to collaborating with her in the future!
This session was a true collaboration with my amazingly talented friends, Gabriella Dorsen (hair) and her sister Bria Dorsen (makeup). Silvia Guijarro Parra was our consultant and transportation advisor :-). Working with these ladies not only makes everything fun but they are the consummate professionals making their expert work look effortless!!! I can't wait to do more sessions with them!
Erin is a beautiful soul who has an amazing wellness company called Pure Light Wellness. Being with Erin is like basking in the most beautiful light. She is the real deal.....down to earth, warm, authentic and loving! I loved every minute of our sacred portrait session on the streets of Venice, CA!
As you can see, Robyn is a beauty! I had the honor of shooting her wedding a while back, and was thrilled when she hired me to do a portrait session honoring the start of her new career in real estate!
From time to time I love to go back and look at the portrait sessions I have done. This last year was mainly consumed by my sailing adventure, but I did manage to get a bunch of wonderful sessions in as well. I love my clients so much. It is great to see how they are all making their mark on the world! Here you'll see a writer/meditation teacher, a director/cameraman, a grad school student, a couple of actors, a professional musician, a hair stylist, a couple of realtors, a spiritual teacher, a craftsman and a jewelry designer/entrepreneur. It feels so great to be a part of these entrepreneurs' paths as they put themselves out into the world!
I have known miss Bella since she was born. I have shot both of her other siblings senior portraits (check them out here: Peter, Olivia), so this is a huge tradition and honor that I was looking so forward to! Bella is a living example everything you would want your child to embody....grace, strength, intelligence, wisdom, respectfulness, confidence and beauty (to name a few)! I am so proud to be one of her aunties, and am so excited to see what she does in the world as she steps into this next phase of life!
